Discovery Inn

I travel a lot, and it's been some time since I've had a hotel experience like this. The care and attention to detail really stands out here. Super friendly/accommodating stuff, comfortable/cozy rooms, great location, and lots of "extras" (all of the lawn games, the coffee machine in the lobby, hot tub, etc) made it a pleasure to stay here.

It is a small hotel, but you can tell the owner and everyone working there put a lot of love into it. Everything is very thoughtfully arranged — from the makeup remover wipes and earplugs in the room to the games thoughtfully prepared in the garden and the warm smiles from the staff. I’ve stayed in many luxurious hotels, but none quite compare to the sense of warmth and comfort I felt here. A big thank you as well to the team for helping us find my daughter’s lost Apple Pencil. I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely hotel to everyone.

Ownership goes out of their way to make your stay a wonderful experience. We checked in and our carpets were freshly cleaned that day. The coffee bar was stocked with coffee pods, hot cocoa and all sorts of creamers. The bathroom was well stocked with towels (fluffy) and various bath bombs, soaps ect. You can just see the pride of ownership and the way they go beyond to make it a special stay.There were even fresh flowers in the room. Beds are comfy and housekeeping is available if you request before 11:00 am. My only negative is that the phone reception in my room was not good however management said the are making attempts to improve it. The only other drawback is that, if you don't have a car, you will need taxi service to get to the harbor and back. I would definitely recommend you have a car on the Island. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. I contacted them several times before arrival and they always got back to me asap. Special shout out to Melia who is a doll!!

So, my daughter decides to take a paid internship in the San Juan Islands, We live in Georgia, completely across the country . I site unseen book a stay at the Discovery Inn so that I can help facilitate my daughter’s “new job.” This place is immaculate, the owners spared no expense. The rooms are amazing, the mattresses are like sleeping on a cloud. The hotel is a small drive from Friday Harbor but it is worth it. I wish I knew what they use to make the rooms smell so good. I am making assumptions but, I feel that the people that run this hotel have poured their hearts and souls into it. The employees are treated like family from my outside observation. One of the owners went above and beyond to give my little girl a ride to begin her internship. I travel all the time, I would sacrifice every loyalty award and b.s. hotel point to stay at a place like this every time I traveled.

Our stay was very comfortable! Room was large, very clean! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The Inn's grounds were beautiful. And they are within walking distance from the downtown area. Would stay here again if we are ever back on the island!

Beautiful rooms that are decorated very well. The hotel is in a great location not too far from downtown Friday Harbor. It is a great place for families with many available games and sports to play, from volleyball to disc golf to cornhole to table tennis to less common games like jumbo pong. The property is large which makes it perfect for these activities. The staff were also very nice too.

Our room at the Discovery Inn was perfect. It was sparkling clean and beautifully decorated, welcoming and fully stocked and oh so comfortable. The real treasure though is the staff. Incredibly helpful and in the know for all things an island visitor would need. We ordered a breakfast basket and it was beyond expectations!

The owners have thought of and followed through with every detail! Extensive check-in to provide maps and give you all of the island details, a complete tour guide. Rooms are super cute, very clean and come with a flower bouquet, robe/slippers, teas/coffee's, etc. There are seating areas everywhere outside, though out in the open, they feel like your own private little relaxing space in the shade. A plethora of yard games - every game you can imagine - with laminated instructions. There are picnic tables with grills and COMPLETE bbq kits.. briquettes, lighter fluid, tongs (every BBQ utensil), grill gloves, cutting board, plates, napkins, all eating utensils, etc. - literally just bring the meat! We will be regulars on this beautiful island and will always stay at Discovery Inn. Thank you for the amazing hospitality and experience!!

The staff was excellent! They were friendly and helpful. We came right after getting off the ferry and Ayre allowed us to check in early. Ayre also gave us excellent advice on places to go, what to see, and sent us off with binoculars and directions. The room had additional touches that made it seem more like a boutique inn. It was nice that they had a microwave and fridge. They had many places to sit outside, lawn games, disc golf, and a hot tub. This is a place I would definitely go back to!

The Discovery Inn is currently undergoing renovations in phases, and we had the privilege of staying in one of the newly updated rooms. It was beautiful! The owners were incredibly accommodating, warm, and inviting. They even let us borrow binoculars for whale watching and shared a list of local recommendations. We’re so glad we found this place and look forward to returning.
